ISTAEF FUNDRAISER
The ISTA Pharma Committee has identified three key topics as priorities for industry guidance. The development of three whitepapers is planned, focusing on the following topics:
- Thermal Packaging Sustainability Considerations
- Frozen Product Considerations
- Temperature Monitoring and Real-Time Monitoring Considerations

The ISTA Educational Foundation (ISTAEF) is now accepting undergraduate research proposals focused on minimizing product damage throughout distribution and optimizing resource usage through effective package design.
ISTAEF will award two research grants of $4,500 each for projects to be conducted in the Fall of 2025. Research findings will be presented at the 2026 ISTA Forum, including a poster presentation at the ISTAEF Fundraising Dinner. The deadline to submit a proposal is March 29, 2025.
The ISTA Standards Council recently approved a request to develop a new test procedure based on recent full truckload field data collected from shipments in Europe. In accordance with our established protocol creation and maintenance process, an ad hoc workgroup of subject matter experts (SME’s) has been formed to draft the test protocol for approval by our consensus body, the ISTA Test Series Group.
Participation in the consensus body is open to all interested parties. If you are interested in contributing to this and other ISTA protocol maintenance and development activities, please express your interest in ISTA's Test Series Group.
Nominations for the R. David LeButt Award are open! The ISTA Educational Foundation honors packaging professionals with the R. David LeButt Award for their outstanding contributions to education in transport packaging. The selected recipient will be honored at ISTA's Annual Forum. The deadline to nominate is December 31, 2024!
