At its annual meeting following the 2026 ISTA Forum USA in Phoenix, Arizona, the ISTA Global Board welcomed two new directors and elected new officers.
Rodney Prater of SC Johnson was elected Chair, and Anthony Rizzo of Cold Chain Technologies was elected Vice Chair. The Global Board also confirmed the appointment of Brent Nelson of Meta as ISTA Global Board Sustainability Committee Chair. Brent, along with Jennifer Shorkey of RJW Logistics Group, were elected as at-large Directors. Jim Thomson of Walmart was re-elected to his second term as an at-large Director.

New ISTA Test Procedure for European FTL Shipments
ISTA 3N: Similar Packaged-Products in Unitized Loads for Truckload Shipment in Europe
ISTA Project 3N is a general simulation test designed for unitized loads shipped via Full Truckload (FTL) carriers within Europe. The procedure was developed using field data collected from European FTL shipments and reflects distribution conditions specific to that region and mode of transport.

ISTA 3P: Packaged Products for India Parcel Delivery System Shipment, 70 kg (150 lb) or Less
ISTA 3P is a general simulation test designed for packaged products weighing 70 kg (150 lb) or less shipped through the Indian parcel delivery network. The procedure reflects the combination of handling, transportation, and environmental conditions specific to India’s parcel distribution system.

Procedure Updates to ISTA 6‑Amazon.com‑Over Boxing
ISTA 6‑Amazon.com-Over Boxing: E‑Commerce Fulfillment for Parcel Delivery Shipment
The update reflects changes in Amazon’s fulfillment practices and incorporates refinements intended to improve consistency and relevance in test execution. Key updates include:
- Updated dunnage materials to reflect current Amazon fulfillment operations
- Air pillows removed
- Kraft paper added, consistent with current practices in Amazon fulfillment centers
- Added guidance for calculating and applying dunnage to improve consistency in test execution
- Updated hazard (dummy) package dimensions and weights
- Revised multi‑item configurations based on a re‑evaluation of Amazon order history
- Increased sample size to better account for increased product variety and order variabilit
Amazon has announced a four‑month grace period associated with these updates, with a cutoff date of August 1, 2026.
