- Certification of your packaged-product. Only members whose packaged-products are successfully tested in ISTA certified labs may have those products ISTA certified. Certification strengthens your position in a dispute with anyone involved in your products distribution channel. More importantly, certification provides greater confidence in a volatile transport environment.

Membership Categories NOT CERTIFYING a Laboratory:
Shipper: $680
- Any organization that enters goods into physical distribution (product manufacturer or brand owner).
- Package certification requires submission of a signed ISTA License Agreement.
- Must be primary location. Additional locations may join as an Additional Location member (see type below).
- Membership includes two primary location contacts: Delegate and Alternate. Additional contacts may join as Associate members.

- Any organization primarily engaged in the transportation or distribution of goods in commerce.

- A company that buys products from a manufacturer or wholesaler and sells them to end users.

- Any individual employed by an existing member location.

- Must be retired from the packaging industry.

- A school that offers courses leading to a degree (such as a bachelors, masters, or doctoral degree) and where research is completed.

- Any individual presently enrolled at an accredited educational institute in an University undergraduate or graduate packaging program.
Membership Categories WITH a Laboratory:
Primary Location: $1,925
- Carrier: Any organization primarily engaged in the transportation or distribution of goods in commerce.
- Shipper: Any organization that enters goods into physical distribution (product manufacturer or brand owner).Requires submission of a signed ISTA License Agreement.
- Supplier: Any organization engaged in the supply of materials, goods or services relating to the physical distribution of goods.
- Retailer: A company that buys products from a manufacturer or wholesaler and sells them to end users.
- 3rd Party Testing Laboratory: Any independent laboratory engaged in preshipment testing of packaged-products in accordance with ISTA standards. ISTA Certified Laboratories are further classified one of two ways - Commercial or In-house. Commercial Labs offer testing services to all companies with little or no restrictions. In-house Labs offer testing services that may be restricted by company policy (usually this is a supplier that tests only for customers.)
- University: A school that offers courses leading to a degree (such as a bachelors, masters, or doctoral degree) and where research is completed.
- All Laboratory Memberships include two primary location contacts: Delegate and Alternate. Additional contacts may join as Associate members.
